Boy, Dong Nguyen of dotGears has received more attention for his now-defunct “Flappy Bird” game than PopCap has for the creation of Plants vs. Zombies. Earlier this month, we found out that the addictive arcade game relaunched exclusively on Amazon Fire TV (with a few changes).
Today, Touch Arcade reported on a hands-on review of dotGears’ newest game, soon to be launched on iOS. Swing Copters appears to have all of the elements required for another super addictive arcade game similar to the one that launched Nguyen into the spotlight.

According to Touch Arcade, Swing Copters has players take on the task of maneuvering an anthropomorphic helicopter through a series of gates with swinging mallets. The whirlybird suffers from an inability to control itself and your job is to keep him centered by tapping the left or right side of the screen. Tap left to fly right. Tap right to fly left.

This new game is a vertical scroller, as opposed to the side-scrolling mayhem that was Flappy Bird. Other than the direction and tapping controls, the game is pretty much the same.
Swing Copters will live in the App Store on sale Aug. 21 for free. Unlike Flappy Bird, players will have the option to remove advertisements by unlocking the feature for $0.99 inside the game.
